Therefore an area that is clickable on iPad2 or iPad3 may become too small to click on the iPad mini. So we had two platforms - iPad2/iPad3 with one tap area size, and iPhone 4/iPhone 5 with another, and now we have three.

Click targets work out the same size as an iPhone (iPad was always a bit bigger), so no, this is no big deal.
