I never used it, but Yahoo pipes sounds like it was awesome whenever I hear people talk about it. I don't know if it was Yahoo Pipes that died, or a mainstream internet based on open protocols and standards.

It died because it was basically a cool hobby tech demo that happened to be on yahoo domain. There was never any real tie in to yahoo the company
