Pagination is useful when a user needs to understand time and space for a given context.

Infinite scroll is useful when the time and space is now for the context.

As noted by both parents, implementations for both could be better.



You are quite right. Time and space is the important point here. There's no way of saying "Give me page 6 as it was when I bookmarked it two weeks ago."


Usually you can do this by putting timestamps in the URL rather than pages.
