It won’t affect the average user, but the only thing keeping some people on windows is games that use anticheats like BattleEye or EasyAntiCheat.

With proton a lot of games now run quite nicely asides from the ones that require anticheat systems.



Right, but now you're trying to solve a completely different, unrelated problem. The problem with this particular situation is that it hits the average user, not folks who already know what ufs is, or are mad enough to install linux just so they can game with proton.

(and no, already using linux as daily driver doesn't count, none of those folks were even remotely impacted by this windows-manufacturer-signed rootkit-on-windows problem.)
