Recent macOS Catalina threw away 32-bit support; Ubuntu LTS as of 20.04 is removing almost all of the 32-bit libraries (with a few exceptions that would let Wine/Proton keep running, IIRC). It will eventually happen in Windows as well; 16-bit code was exceptionally fast and compact when it was suffcient.....
