I feel like recent versions of Claude were designed to burn tokens.
It is always trying to highlight and revisit solved issues and it writes about them in an alarming way to draw your attention.
It feels like it has been prompted to provide some minimum level of conversation, and also to leave hooks for keeping the conversation going. It is exhausting.
ChatGPT has been doing that for a long time, like "by the way, can I just say it's funny how xxxxxxx". Always an invitation to continue engaging, which with a human conversation partner you would feel obligated to respond to or at the very least acknowledge.
With a clanker though, no such obligation exists and the "hey also" content (like any other part of the response) can simply be ignored.
With Claude it feels like those engagement invitations have turned into things like "By the way, it's worth sitting with this problem I've identified in your assertions..." or "Here's an alarming gap worth resolving in your code..."
Gemini also does the same lighthearted GPT-style invitation with the default prompt in the Google webui, but it doesn't seem to exist on the API. The Claude models seem to have been trained to force this structure on every one of their responses, and until I realized they always stick the same thing in the last part of their response, I found the Claude version more distracting since it's always pointing out an imaginary and supposedly very important problem.
I never got those in codex after like the first day they started appearing. I just added a custom instruction not to do that. I also don't get them in chatgpt web for the same reason?
It's just this in agents.md

FWIW I bricked a ThinkPad motherboard not that long ago by toggling the wrong BIOS options. Wasn't even a BIOS update (although ironically that would've fixed it), just toggling setting in the F2 Setup Menu. The target configuration was supported, but apparently there was a BIOS bug where if you toggled two different settings without rebooting inbetween, it bricked the motherboard (technically people online found some solutions that involved resoldering chips on the mobo but that's a little outside of my comfort zone). I believe it was Quiet Boot and... some sort of Thunderbolt controller mode? But I don't remember exactly.
This problem was not the natural result of "exiting". There is no reason FW couldn't supply a recovery method. That's not "hey that's life on the bleeding edge!" For that matter, the whole product isn't bleeding edge since years ago anyway.
Someone else noticed that there is actually a (unpopulated) header for flashing, which avoids the janky pogo pin thing even unpopulated. Why didn't fw point him at it when explicitly asked? And even if they had, where is the firmware image to use with it? They have it, so there is nothing about the "exiting" nature of the product that stops them from saying something more helpful than "throw the motherboard away".
Usually "good enough". Garages aren't big enough to be completely crazy in angles. People pick a consistent location for the tennis ball. Their face, a sticker, a mirror, etc. If they are off, its not going to line up correctly.
I am usually only traveling with a carry-on and I use something called "ranger rolls".
Roll them as densely as you can get them. try not to leave them that way outside of immediate travel. I like it precisely of your space filling comment. I can fit clothes into what was ordinarily dead space with any other method in any other bag or suit case.
Late-stage capitalism wants sleazy intermediation and get-rich-quick scams. Talk about "honest hard work" is just a tool, for keeping the serfs where they belong.
It should be able to handle infinitely high request rates but I do block a lot of things that may be bots. I will let archive.is back in for a min and make an archive of this page.
I am not an expert at all but I believe the rough idea is that in General Relativity, everything follows a geodesic. The straightest possible path through curved spacetime.
They use that to explain why you don't feel acceleration when you jump off a building or out of a plane.
They say you DO feel it when you are standing, because the earth is impeding you and pushing you away from the geodesic you naturally want to follow.
So it is counterintuitive. the standing still person is being accelerated/pushed. The freefall person is free.
John wheeler said "Spacetime tells matter how to move; matter tells spacetime how to curve". I think it explains the circular nature.
Mass curves spacetime, that changes how mass moves , mass moving to a new position changes the curvature, that changes how the mass will move next.
The dimple in the mattress staying with the mass.
You've got it right. Our normal environment is an accelerating reference frame. The resting frame (i.e., free fall) is easier to analyze using physics, but is unfamiliar (indeed tend to feel alarming) to us.
It feels like it has been prompted to provide some minimum level of conversation, and also to leave hooks for keeping the conversation going. It is exhausting.
