Hi asciimoo, seems like this is the second time Hister is hitting the HN front page in a month, so congrats on the success!
Question for you: For the less tech savvy of us on here, is there any chance Hister can be can hosted on something like Pikapods? https://www.pikapods.com/
Yes, that's something I'd like to support. The main missing piece for a user-friendly hosting option such as PikaPods is a configuration UI. At the moment, customizing Hister requires editing a configuration file, which isn't practical for this kind of hosted service.
Appreciate the response! I'll be eagerly following Hister's progress. For now, I've settled on a mix of Instapaper and using SingleFile uploads to Dropbox.
People take much more time off during the summer in the USA than during other times of year. It’s somewhat regional, but it’s been true in all the place I have lived. Probably July is the most common month though because in some regions schools start sometime in August. It’s not uncommon for people to take 1-2w off during that period. More than 2w often requires extra approvals, so is less common.
I got Ortho-K lenses last year, and I'm over the age of 40. Seeing all day long without contacts or glasses is incredible. They're actually better for dry eyes than dailies, as you wear them for less hours
Their API doesn't provide the mixed Kagi metasearch results though. Only results from their smallweb Teclis index, Curlie, and I think Marginalia results are included. Probably also other sources I'm not aware of.
Marginalia has a free-ish API for non-commercial purposes if you go direct:
Kind of, but not really, the ublock origin app doesn't work on Orion. I tried both Kagi + uBlock versus Brave and their built-in ad-block and Brave had a much better performance.
And apparently Indians. Unfortunately the worldwide supply of poor and desperate young men is virtually infinite so Russia will be able to recruit more mercenaries as long as they have cash from fossil fuel exports.
