Adding to this- Apple charges me $138 per year membership and the latest app took 3 weeks for review. Used to be very fast before (under 24 hours) but lately it's very long for new apps.

are you a well known business or submitting your very first app? its anecdotal, but it seems to me from experience at a couple companies is that apple/google are quick to review even new apps from established companies...

Ive heard that but not sure if true. I've been building and submitting apps for 15 years and have multiple approved and maintained apps in the store. (I am the developer of Hack, one of top hacker news clients on iOS and Android).

Doesn't Quebec have it's own slightly different constitution than the Canada wide one? If I remember right, there's been cases where things aren't allowed per Canada Charter but are allowed per Quebec's own one.

Sure, Quebec has a different constitution than Canada, but this isn't any different than US states having their own constitutions too.

The difference is that the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms has a "notwithstanding clause" which, when invoked, allows a province to avoid having one of its laws struck down by federal courts even if it goes against some parts of the Canadian Charter (though only applies to some rights, not all).

People are even vaping on public transit nowadays. Never seen that for smoking.

People used to smoke everywhere. Bars, restaurants, tiny offices without ventilation, cars, busses, aircraft, underground railway, literally everywhere.

When it became common knowledge that second hand smoke is bad restrictions came into place.

Smoking on public transit (and literally everywhere else too) was totally normal and common up until the 90s when regulations started to trickle in. When I was in elementary school teachers smoked in the teacher's lounge and would talk about when they used to be able to smoke in the classroom. My grandma would take about smoking while at work, and she worked as a seamstress.
