There were many amazing distros before Omarchy and there will be many after. Use whatever you want, vibecoded or not. Don't tell people what to do. Make your own decisions.
Sad that people just complain about what DHH is doing and how he doesn't know anything. Nobody is forcing anybody to use Omarchy at all. Also $10 million was raised by him for it, did anybody else here raise that for a distro? I'm tired of the constant complaining and criticizing. Nobody said you have to use it.
He clearly "suffers" from narcissistic personality disorder, trying to change him is a waste of time. Even if he was a normal person, I see no rational reason for him to change his behavior given how successful he is.
So what works for you: seeing him disappear from the Earth? He's not a human anymore? Have you ever spoken with him directly before? Or do you just read and write about people you've never had any real interaction with?
Some yes. I am not american, so i don't see anything particularly wrong with them. The main thing americans forget is that they are the invaders that replaced the local population and erased local culture.
This is hilarious. He isn't American and isn't talking about American in his racist rants. The people calling out his racism aren't focused on America or a majority American. His main blog post that gets called out for the blatant racism is titled "As I Remember London".
Great work! I'm a fan of the hyprland setup on Omarchy and also daily on Mac! Do you have any screenshots showing some of the tiling, apps running and what not? Looks excellent!
Yes there are 4 screenshots in the readme, it's a bit long and most of them are in the bottom.
There is a plain desktop one, one for the shortcuts help menu, one tiled one and one for the custom mission control. They are in the docs folder in the repo it you just wanna check out the screenshots.
I run Nobara, which is basically a beautyfied Fedora variant. It's pure Fedora with addons that make it easier to handle for Windows-damaged users. I left Windows last year, no regrets - Nobara just works and doesn't need any attention. Support community on Discord always up to help and very friendly.
Thanks so much, yes I like how you can go to pacman/apt and boom everything is right there! Also I’ve become much more keyboard oriented in navigating and macOS just doesn’t have the same navigation as i3, hyprland, etc. It is intimidating a bit, but I haven’t really felt a challenge on the Mac/windows side for so long that I’m looking forward to it! Thank you.
If you want a taste of i3/Hyprland you could try aerospace. It's lean, a bit clunky to use and lacks a lot of functionality, but it's the best mac option for a i3-style display manager on mac. I installed it day 1 of switching and I haven't looked back since. I'm thinking of maybe looking into adding some PRs or forking it to see if I can add some functionality to it
That’s great advice the main distros tend to have tons of support for much longer and easier to maintain I’m sure. I currently have a Mac mini m4 so I’m thinking a similar sized box with an AMD setup inside, those small mini PCs.
Awesome, I'll take a look at Toshy, too. I was looking into PopOS or CachyOS (with Cosmic). There seems to be such a vast amount of Linux distros and window managers than I remember from a good 5-10 years ago.
Everything seems to be tied to a subscription now on the Windows/Mac side in some way, its been very off putting for me.
