Collabfinder is another service to find collaborators.
I tried Cofounderslab.com, Collabfinder and did not find the quality people I was looking for.
Perhaps not surprisingly, HN yielded a much higher level of potential collaborators/co-founders. I spoke with a few folks on here and am impressed. Most prefer working with someone in person.
Many Universities nowadays have plenty of resources to the prospective Entrepreneur. Check out the local business schools to see if they host open innovation days.
If you are looking for contractors to help, ODesk and Elance surprised me with some pretty high quality people, but you have to sift through a lot of applications.
The temptation to do this in proprietaryware is strong because then your customers can customise their stuff without you giving away your precioussss.
Of course, then you have to support the terrible, terrible programming language you have just invented by accidentally making your DSL Turing complete.
Examples: ant, MediaWiki parser functions, whatever that thing Varnish uses is ... the Varnish one is less terrible than most Turing-complete configuration languages, but it still turns trying to read a config into trying to read source code. You don't want to do that to your future self.
(I have had to write actual code in Ant. It's as if COBOL were written in XML. Unbelievably horrible.)

"........As far as I understand, HIPAA compliant means that data has to be encrypted in transit and at rest ......so, for example, running a SQL Database on an EC2 with SSL and an encrypted file system should do the job and that doesn't cost 1500 per month ??
In order to get a BAA with Amazon you need to use dedicated instances. BAAs are required in order to use Amazon and be compliant with HIPAA. Running any dedicated instances in a zone costs $2/hr (just for the right).
but once you have the BAA , does Amazon force you to run the dedicated instance 24/7 ? I'm very confused , just running an app on a dedicated instance, does not make it HIPAA compliant since the app needs encryption in-transit and at-rest to be HIPAA compliant. You can achieve that on a regular instance ...
Assuming the OP is an at-will employee (which is what it sounds like), I don't think the initial agreement matters. The cool thing about being at-will is you can quit whenever you want. Nobody can force you to stay there. The bad thing is they can fire you whenever they want for (almost) any reason.
That said, if you want to know your legal options, you absolutely should talk to a lawyer.
I don't see any reason to get a lawyer involved. They've paid him everything they owed him for the work he's done so far. They've made him a bad offer for the future (crap salary plus crap working conditions) that he would be very unwise to take, but there's nothing illegal about making a bad offer, any more than it would be illegal for him to offer to work for a million dollars an hour. He just needs to make it clear that he's not willing to work for them unless he gets either good pay or good working conditions.
A "developer job abroad" may be just as bad and soul crushing as the job you have now, even though it may pay more money; so be careful about that.
Quit the job, go travel around, stay in youth hostels, make friends etc. Find a country ( or even better, a city in your own country ) that you like. Have a good time. Most important is to make friends though.
